Question about HH Hostels

From: (ladylee84@yahoo.com) | Date: 2004-08-02 17:52:44 UTC
If you visit a HH Hostel, you get to count the box that you find.
If there is more than one HH in the box, do you count all of them or
just the one that you take?

also - if someone gets a HH and shares it with you but not
necessarily gives it to you to take - do you count that as well??

Just want to make sure I am doing this right.

And to add to this, what if the hostel itself has its own stamp (or
do they all?)? What is that counted as?

The rule remains the same, AFAIK -- any box you exchange stamps with
is a find, be it a hitchhiker or not. There is no requirement to
take a hitchhiker when found -- it's your choice. If you prefer to,
you can leave it in the same box you found it. It's still a find.

Of course, hitchhikers were made to travel, so if you can take it,
do. But some letterboxers may not because they know they won't have
a chance to place it elsewhere for a while or may not be interested
in carrying around. That's OK.

As for hostels, the request is that you only take the hitchhiker if
you have one to leave behind. Anjabanja and I found a hostel a
short while ago, but did not have a hitchhiker in our possession.
Thus, we counted two finds -- the hostel and the hitchhiker -- but
took nothing with us.

If you find a hostel with more than one hitchhiker, you could take
one or all of them -- as long as you leave at least one behind
(preferably one you brought yourself). Whether you take any or all,
all boxes (including the hostel) are finds.

The more experienced letterboxers will correct me if I'm mistaken.

AFAIK, the hostel is it's own letterbox. If it has a stamp, and you
exchange with it, its a find. Add it to your F count.

I know what a Hitch Hiker is, but what's a HH hostel? How will I know if I've found one.

This link ought to fix you up.

It's a "station" so to speak where hitchhikers pass through and are picked up and
dropped off. There are a few sprinkled across the country.

It was my understanding (it at least works this way at the Wells
Transportation HH Hostel) that HH exchange was strictly on a one for one
basis. If you found three in the box you should leave it with three in
the box. This gives more variety for boxers to choose from in case they
have already logged into some of the HHs that are there. Again, more
experienced boxers may correct me if I am wrong.
